Grenade Carb Killa Spread Review

Grenade Carb Killa Spread Review

Grenade Carb Killa Spread Review - Should I be adding it to my diet?

If you’ve never heard of Grenade Bar Carb Killas or haven’t tried them then check out our review page here.

If on the other hand you’re a fan like me and already know how good they are but want to find out about the spread…then you’re in for a treat.

Carb Killa Spread: Firstly it tastes AMAZING – I went for the White Choc Cookie spread and loved it. Easy to spread and great on crumpets, pancakes, toast, bagels – or just by the spoonful. And this is perhaps the problem. You lull yourself into a false sense of security by thinking that because its high in protein it’s also good for you – unfortunately the two aren’t mutually exclusive. It all comes down to moderation (yawn)

Just like the Carb Killa bars, the spread is high in protein but also high in calories. So before you scoop out another spoon full straight into your mouth take note of the the key nutritional details…

The Benefits

Compared to having say… Nutella on your toast or pancakes in the morning, this is going to be MUCH better for you due to the lower fat and sugar content.

If you don’t usually have Nutella and you’re not substituting this in for anything else though, you could just be adding to your calories for the day. So,it comes down to the invididual (of course) For some people this could be a turn off but…for many people this is a great thing. If you’re looking to increase your caloric intake to help cater for growing muscles or to support a higher energy output Carb Killa Spread is perfect.

My view is that if you’re training for a marathon or a sport where you have very high energy output and need to be piling on the calories to enable that level of activity, this is a great way of upping the anti to give you the extra energy you need.

Just make sure you eat it as intended and don’t just wolf down half a jar in one go while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil like I did!

Carb Killa vs Nutella

If you do like a bit o’ chocolate spread on your pancakes or toast in the morning then its worth considering swapping regardless. Yes, Carb Killa spread is expensive but I believe its worth it on two counts

  1. For the reduction in sugar alone

  1. Because Nutella seem a bit sneaky (sorry Nutella!) – but their recommended service size is 15g – half the size of other options making it appear to have less calories. Its also full of palm oil which, although it states is sustainably sourced, I try to steer away from nevertheless.
